The 64th Cannes International Film Festival is now in full swing, so many more important movie announcements can be expected before it ends on May 22.
The prestigious event began yesterday with a screening of Woody Allen’s new romantic comedy Midnight in Paris.
Acclaimed Italian moviemaker Bernardo Bertolucci declared the festival open as he cut the ribbon. The director is best known for work such as Last Tango in Paris and The Last Emperor, and last night was presented with a Palme d'Honneur for his lifetime achievement in film.
"The surprise makes this even more important," beamed the filmmaker.
