Saif Ali Khan heads to Cannes

After Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Mallika Sherawat, Freida Pinto and Minissha Lamba, actor Saif Ali Khan too is gearing up to raise the glamour quotient at the Cannes Film Festival. And he wants to be well turned out. “I hope I am well dressed at Cannes. That’s my only worry at the moment,”

laughs Saif, who is going to wear a classy dinner jacked by celebrated designer Tom Ford.

Ask Saif if girlfriend Kareena Kapoor has given him tips for the red carpet outing and he says, “Not really. Kareena has been asking me to buy a Tom Ford suit for some time now. So finally, I’ve got one. But I have my own sense of style.” Incidentally, Saif’s mother Sharmila Tagore has been to Cannes as a jury member in the past.

But the star isn’t going gaga over his maiden appearance. “It’s an extended job as a brand ambassador,” says Saif, who will represent Chivas at the festival. “Attending Cannes will be exciting, but it would be great if I can showcase one of my movies at the fest some day. Ideally, I should show my film in the competition section and that’d be a great occasion to attend the festival.”

And though Saif has a flourishing production house that can help him achieve this dream, he wants to focus on establishing the firm as a commercial venture first. “I would love to make a film for the competition section at Cannes. But right now, we are focused on setting up
my production house, Illuminati Films, as a commercial movie production house. And the international films competing in Cannes have a very different taste and palette,” says Saif.

Besides walking the red carpet on May 11, Saif will also attend a glitzy party co-hosted by the brand and him at the French Riviera.
