Cinco de Mayo Celebrations Planned in Hollywood

Cinco de Mayo, the day celebrating the Mexican army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, may not be a big holiday in Mexico, but here in California, plenty of people will raise their margarita glass in celebration.

Hollywood provides several venues for fiesta-ing, from a pubcrawl around Hollywood to a parking lot bash. Enjoy.

The Happy Ending Bar and Restaurant

For the fourth year, The Happy Ending Bar and Restaurant will open up their parking lot for a Cinco de Mayo bash. Enjoy the sunshine and celebrate at this party that includes outdoor bars, mariachi bands, drink specials, DJs, food and games. Especially exciting are the beer trucks, which will sell thirst-quenching beverages for the revelers. 

“Cinco de Mayo at The Happy Ending gets bigger and better every year” said Lauren Counter, marketing manager at the Happy Ending Bar and Restaurant.

Beer pong and flip cup games will be going on all day, along with giveaways. Counters said they expect about 1,000 people to attend throughout the day.

“The weather is going to be amazing so it's perfect that we are opening up the parking lot for an outdoor bash,” Counter said.

The Happy Ending is at 7038 West Sunset Blvd. The event is from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Cinco de Mayo Hollywood Pub Crawl

Why go to one bar when you can hit up 12? The Cinco de Mayo pubcrawl through Hollywood will take you on a journey to more than a dozen bars in the Hollywood area including Pig N' Whistle, Maui and Sons, Five 0 Four, Tekila, Loaded, Dillon's Irish Pub, California Wings Café and Boardners. Drink specials for the crawlers include $2 draft beers and $4 tequila shots.

The pub crawl will be held on two days: Thursday, May 5, 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 7, 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 

Capitol City

It may be a sports bar, but Capitol City will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with decorations, $5 margaritas. And other specials. Drink up!
