Disclosing their accomplishment, researchers revealed that a considerable drop was witnessed in terms of the risk of developing breast cancer among mice following a walnut diet.
The study report has been made available in the journal “Nutrition and Cancer”.
To draw out a conclusion, researchers conducted a two-phase diet test on mice. They revealed that mice, whose food consisted of walnut during both segments of analysis, responded with a considerable reduction in odds of developing breastcancer.
To be precise, researchers found that mice eating walnut were 50% less likely to develop breast cancer as compared to mice who received walnut in only one phase of the analysis.
There’s more, the study revealed that the size and number of tumours observed in those suffering from cancer was drastically smaller.
Study lead Elaine Hardman said these decrease is exceptionally imperative since the mice were programmed according to genetics in order to build up cancer at an escalated rate.
"We were able to reduce the risk for cancer even in the presence of a pre-existing genetic mutation", he said.
In the meantime, a study has revealed that people taking a diet rich in chocolate are, in fact, thrice less likely to suffer heart impairments as compared to those who take less or no chocolate.
