The sizzling trailer of actor Vidya Balan’s next flick The Dirty Picture is grabbing eyeballs and proving to be a big talking point.
The chest-thumping and provocatively gyrating moves of Vidya’s portrayal of Silk Smitha in the teaser has raised eyebrows, earned appreciation and wowed many. On YouTube the official trailer has already crossed over 1 lakh views within a week of its release. Actor Sonam Kapoor commented on Twitter, “Ohmigod just say the promo of dirty picture. Vidya balan I bowdown to you. You are bold provocative and f**ing brilliant (sic).”
Like Sonam, a lot many movie buffs are happy to see Vidya in an ultra sexy avatar. Ankur Talwar, a PR professional and stylist, says, “I think Vidya looks hot in the trailer. It’s not a vulgar portrayal because the filmmakers are just trying to capture the essence of that decade when stimulating skin show was very prominent. With this film Vidya is finally shedding her image of a homely girl and showing her sensuous side. It’s not her individual style, so it’s actually funny to see her going all the way and doing something so bold and controversial.”
However, the red sari, red lipstick and voluptuous image of Vidya in the posters and trailers, is a bit too much for the conservative lot. Toshi Khurana, a DU student and Bollywood movie fan, says, “I was actually shocked to see the trailer of this movie. It was in the news for a long time, but when I saw it, I was disappointed. Ekta Kapoor has picked up a hot topic but the presentation I feel is too explicit. The dialogues in the teaser are derogatory for any woman, and in some scenes even Vidya looks uncomfortable delivering them.”
