Mallika Sherawat: The Phantom of the Opera?

B-town’s Jalebi Bai, aka, Mallika Sherawat is all set to go back to her ramp days and this time she may scare some with the 'Phantom of the Opera' look.

Former Indian model is gracing the world of catwalk yet again, but this time fully covered up as an Indian bride.

Surprised? Here’s what industry insiders told us, ‘ The show is titled 'The phantom of the Opera’ and Designer Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor will have Mallika Sherawat as their showstopper at the Aamby Valley India Bridal Week. Mallika will wear an outfit with gemstone in the colours of love and romance with a blend of the authentic Mughal era with sophisticated Victorian sensibility.’ 

So we're thinking Mallika's outfit could be scary or elegant, it's all up to the designers! Let’s hope Mallika practices her sophisticated look beforehand and doesn’t create another fashion disaster like she normally does at red carpet events.

Buzz also has it that Ms. Sherawat is one of the highest paid celebrities to walk as a showstopper. Is that fair? Probably not but have you seen her rocking body?

Is this bold actress, who once claimed that she could do a ‘Yeh Mera Dil’ song better than Kareena Kapoor, is worth watching on the ramp?

Designer duo Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor opened the Aamby Valley India Bridal Week 2011 at Hotel Sahara Star, Mumbai, with a dazzling Phantom Couture collection.

Inspired by the Victorian era and the drama of Mughal times, the designers wove together glamour, grandeur and colour into their ball gowns and ethnic wear.

For the finale, Anjalee and Arjun had the sexy Mallika Sherawat walk as the showstopper in a jewelled bustier and a bright carrot red panelled lehenga. Mallika said, "What I like about Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor's fashion sensibility is that they are unafraid to experiment. It's exciting to wear a bridal outfit with a twist. I love the romantic look of the lotus concept lehenga. It makes a style statement for any trousseau and signifies luxury for the new age bride." 

Jewel tones of ruby, sapphire, emerald and topaz peppered this collection of moulded blouses and fluid voluminous skirts. Delicate lace trimmings edged the creations to highlight the silhouettes. Precious stones like crystals, emeralds, rubies, turquoise and aquamarine glittered on every garment. Menswear consisted of black and white sections with churidars, sherwanis and Jodhpur jackets embellished with gleaming silk and brocades with tonal crystals on the cuffs, shoulders and garments. 

For brides and grooms who want to make their D-day a memorable one, the Phantom Couture collection by Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor will be the perfect offering.

Bollywood stars at 83rd Oscars Annual Academy Awards

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan happened to be in Los Angeles on a vacation. And she decided a visit to the Oscars would be part of her itinerary.

The beauty wowed on the red carpet in a strapless gown in deep brown with gold details.

A R Rahman looked dapper in an all-black suit with an aquamarine tie. He was accompanied by wife Saira Banu who looked demure in a cream salwar suit.

Mallika Sherawat va va voomed on to the red carpet in a sparkly one-shoulder number with a thigh-high slit.

We can’t believe Mallika is in Hollywood by virtue of starring in Hisss! the box office dud.

Malaika and Mallika sizzling performance at Aamby Valley City!

There is no denying the fact that Malaika Arora Khan’s ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ seemed to be the flavour for all the New Year parties this year and when the ‘Munni’ herself grooves to the number, the sparks can well be imagined. Malaika Arora Khan gave a sizzling performance at Aamby Valley City in Mumbai on all her hit numbers from ‘Chaiya Chaiya’ to ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’. DJ Amandeep added to the atmosphere with his foot-tapping music.

Mallika Sherawat gave her performance at Sahara Star hotel in Mumbai for ‘Seduction 2011′. She danced on songs from her films including famous number Maiya, Maiya from the film Guru. The performances  continued  all  night long with singing sensation Neeraj Shreedhar, sultry Bollywood actress Mughda Godse, stand up act by comedian Kapil Sharma, performance by actress Marisha Parekh along  with international dancers.

Mallika Sherawat's embarrassing moment?

Mallika Sherawat has had a lot of Kodak moments with Hollywood celebs ever since she shifted base to Los Angeles. But her bid to get photographed with celebs at a charity event called ‘Cinema Against AIDS 2010’ at the just concluded Cannes Film Festival met with a lot of cold shoulders.

At the event organised by amfAR a few days back a lot of renowned celebs like Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton, Mick Jagger, Marc Anthony, Gerard Butler and designer Roberto Cavalli, among others, were present.

 

Mallika wore a Dolce & Gabbana outfit and was dressed up to be clicked with all the famous people of the world. But guess what? Reports say she was cold-shouldered by many. Only Roberto Cavalli, whom she already knew, obliged with a courtesy kiss and a compliment.

 

The most painful snub apparently came from socialite Paris Hilton. It’s being reported that when Mallika went to Paris Hilton to exchange pleasantries, the hotel heiress gave no response but moved on to greet other guests. Mallika’s further attempts to approach and befriend Paris bore no fruits - or photographs - since the blonde socialite just kept ignoring her.
