Pooja Missra might win Bigg Boss 5: Laxmi

Transgender activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, who was evicted from Bigg Boss 5 on Saturday, says she is glad to have left with her "dignity and self-respect" intact. She predicts troublemaker VJ Pooja Missra will end up being one of the top three contenders on the reality show. "My journey in the show was fantastic.

When I was nominated this time, I knew it 110% that I will be evicted. So I am fine with the public's decision. I am only happy that I have managed to come out without losing my dignity and self respect," Tripathi told IANS over phone from Mumbai, after leaving the Bigg Boss 5 house.

Tripathi, who is known for her fights for the LGBT community, entered the show on October 2 with 12 female celebrities and one male celebrity. In six weeks of her stay, she not just came across as a strong, determined and opinionated person, but also proved her point - that transgenders are after all, the same humans as all!

Of all her co-participants, Tripathi feels Pooja has a definite chance to reach the finals.
"Juhi Parmar and Amar Upadhyay stand a chance to reach the finals, but Pooja Missra seems to be the most likely to reach the final three because she is the biggest footage queen ever," said Tripathi.

Pooja has been the centre of attention this season thanks to her catfights and over-the-top attitude. She has received a lot of flak from her co-participants, but the audience seems to be in love with her melodrama.

"Pooja Missra has been nominated for eviction five times…but I guess the viewers are enjoying watching her. She is such an opportunist, and making the best use of the platform by grabbing so much footage," added Tripathi, who feels actor Akashdeep Saigal's behaviour in the Bigg Boss 5 house is "gross and crass".

Bigg Boss is an Indian adaptation of international reality show Big Brother. It features celebrities, who are locked together in a secluded house, away from the humdrum of their busy lives, without any connect with the outside world, and under 24X7 camera surveillance.

Janet is on fire! X Factor contestant resembles Florence Welch as she dyes her hair red - and gets her teeth whitened

It's like watching the makeover episode of Britain's Next Top Model.
Janet Devlin looked chuffed with her new colour as she poses outside Fountain Studios ahead of rehearsals for the first live show
X Factor star Janet Devlin has undergone a further transformation to dye her cascading locks red.

The 16-year-old showcased a slight tinge of bronze on her mousy brown tresses last week, but now she's gone the full mile.

But it doesn't appear the stylists had to coerce her into anything she didn't already want to do.
The hopeful, who has already amassed over 60,000 followers on Twitter, said she was elated with the change even if a particular fan wasn't.

After someone quipped, 'cant believe @JanetJealousy died her hair!!', she replied: 'Sorry :( But I've always wanted copper hair .... :P'

Her image overhaul appears to have extended beyond the barnet and seeped into Janet's clothes too.

The young student from Omagh was seen arriving at Fountain Studios for rehearsals ahead of the first live show on Saturday in shiny black lycra.

Paris Hilton fumes over lost luggage

Socialite Paris Hilton has taken aim at airline chiefs after her luggage was lost while returning here.

The reality TV star recently visited Europe and India and was returning back Oct 4 when she misplaced her luggage, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

"Just landed back in LA! What an incredible trip! Loved spending time with my girls and visiting India Turkey & Ibiza! So much fun! So annoying when the airlines lose your luggage. Especially when it's 8 big suitcases of all my favourite outfits. Hope they find them," the 30-year-old posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Shakti Kapoor not safe in Bigg Boss: Farah Khan

Choreographer-director-actor Farah Khan has been the most consistent follower of Bigg Boss since season one. However, this time she misses out on half the episode because of her gruelling shooting schedules. “I’m tired when I get home. Ever since Just Dance wrapped up, I’vebeen setting a number for Housefull 2. I watch half the show and go to sleep because I have an early call time, and the show airs late. But my husband (director Shirish Kunder) is following it religiously on my behalf,” says Farah, who’s forced to put the TV off because she has to put her triplets to sleep. “I can’t let their schedules get affected because I want to watch TV.”

Every year, Farah is known to throw a bash of sorts for her close friends with whom she watches the first and sometimes, the closing episode of the reality show. However, she’s broken the tradition this year. “I couldn’t have an opening episode party but when I saw Shakti (Kapoor) entering the house as the only man among 12 women and a eunuch, I thought that this season was turning out to be really ‘different’,” she laughs. “Maybe, we’ll have a closing bash.”

‘One day, they’ll gang up against him’Not all the women in the house are nasty. But some are too bad to be true. One of these days, they’ll gang up against Shakti and have him thrown out of the house. A couple of them, within two-three days, will show their true colours. They speak behind their backs, pass nasty comments, and I can see discontent brewing inside a few hearts. It’s just a matter of time. All it will take is one big nasty fight.

‘He’s well-behaved’Bechara Shakti! I don’t feel bad for the women but I definitely feel for Shakti. He must be missing male company so much now. He is shown to be a lecherous villain on screen but on a public platform, he’s anything but lecherous. I’ve not shot too much with him but while working on Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000), I remember he was the first to arrive on sets. It’s against his public image, but he’s actually well behaved. I want him to stay inside for a while because it’ll bring out his true personality. He flirts but in this current situation, he better not misbehave. Pit jayega bechara (he will be beaten up)!

‘There are sweet souls too’
The house would have been incomplete without its set of sweet, and at times, neutral women. They don’t react or overreact in most situations. So, it is good to see Raageshwari back in action. She’s a sweet soul and should stay longer to ensure that there is some sanity left till the last day. Ditto Sonika, but she should come out because it may impact her baby if she stays in this negative environment for too long.

Bevli jailed!
Mandeep Bevli is sent to jail in tonight’s episode. She is given the task to get each housemate to comment on every other member in one sentence only. Everyone, as expected, goes overboard describing his or her individual experience. So, Bevliji who is judging and monitoring the exercise, is punished and sent to jail for an indefinite period. Before going in, she cries and says she can’t eat, sleep and even excrete properly. Okay, we don’t need to get more personal!

Shakti Kapoor gets a royal ignore from Salman and Sanjay!

Actor Shakti Kapoor is perhaps facing the worse snub of his life. Bigg Boss 5 hosts, Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt have apparently decided not to interact with Kapoor, who is the only male inmate in the house.

Sources reveal that Salman Khan, who was once a close friend of Shakti, refused to share the stage with Bigg Boss contestant Shakti, which is why all the female contestants had a brief introduction with Dutt and Khan, but Shakti had a solo entry in the house, without any formal introduction.

Incidentally, both Sanju and Sallu refrained from taking Kapoor’s name and they ensured of the same in their script.

Sources said, the producers are trying to break the ice between Kapoor and the two hosts, since it will look vague if there is no interaction throughout the weeks.

Shakti, who did show remorse at his past deed in the Bigg Boss house, shared the incident (with fellow inmates) that had triggered the friction with Salman without divulging the actor’s identity, “I, in a trip of alcohol, happened to abuse this actor on the phone, which hurt his ego and since then he is not talking to me and unfortunately he is superstar now.”

Similarly, Kapoor insanely narrated an incident about a Bollywood heroine ‘farting’ (using an indecent word like “paad” on national television), while giving a film shot.

He went on to narrate, how the hero of that film Sanjay Dutt (second host of Bigg Boss) had even arranged for a special private screening of the ‘fart’ shot for twenty of his selected friends, who clapped and mocked at the heroine after what they saw and heard the fart.

All this believed to have not gone well with Dutt too, who also is planning to ignore Kapoor, allegedly giving the producers a tough time ahead.

Let’s hope all is sorted out in the Bigg Boss house.

Mandeep Bevli wants to quit ‘Bigg Boss 5′

Mumbai: Popular TV Anchor and a Bigg Boss 5 contestant now, Mandeep Bevli has given up and wants to quit the show.

In yesterday’s episode, Mandeep was seen requesting other housemates to nominate her for the next eliminations. Otherwise a very tough looking Mandeep broke down in front of the camera. She complained of sleep deprivation and poor health state. Mandeep further added that she had no clue about the Bigg Boss format and will be more than happy to go home.

Mandeep also has bird phobia and got really scared as she saw a bird in the house. Later during the day, she was asked to judge a task by Bigg Boss. However, she failed to perform her duties well and Bigg Boss decided to put her behind the bars. May be a bad luck streak has just struck Mandeep.

Mandeep blamed her deteriorating health condition for not been able to perform the daily tasks well. Some housemates like Laxmi Narayan and Juhi Parmar are a little upset with Mandeep because of the same.

The Bigg Boss 5 journey begun a few days back with 14 contestants. This week Pooja Misrra and Nihita Biswas are in the danger zone and one of them will be eliminated.

Bigg Boss 5: Shraddha tries to entice Shakti Kapoor - Day 3

The weekly task (Pahiya Ghumao, Kismat Chamkao – where they have to ride a rickshaw to different cities) continues. The contestants complain and curse about their decision to participate in Bigg Boss 5. They are extremely tired and exhausted from cycling day and night to reach their next destination and complete the task. After all the complaining, the contestants finally reach Lucknow. As a part of the performance, Shakti Kapoor is dressed as a nawab while the others are dressed as Mujra dancers who try to entice the Nawab with their adas. Shakti is also assigned as a judge for this performance and he has to decide who the best and worst dancers are.

Sonika Kaaliraaman has a new task at hand – getting rid of a little bird that has flown into the house. While the bird keeps dodging her, Sonika asks Mandeep for help to get rid of the bird, but one look at the little thing and Mandeep hides in one of the bedrooms. A frantic Mandeep then reveals to Sonika that she has a deathly phobia of birds in an enclosed atmosphere. The wrestler can’t stop laughing at her misery.

The constant ragging causes the so-called head-strong contestant, Mandeep, to cry in front of Bigg Boss. She continues crying even after coming out of the confession room where she is consoled by the other contestants. Shakti Kapoor and Nihita Biswas have their first argument because Shakti is furious that Nihita is comparing herself to others and refusing to participate actively in the weekly task.

Later in the day, Pooja Misrra breaks down, saying that she feels targeted and completely misunderstood in the house. While Pooja feels hurt, Shonali is being highly appreciated by the contestants in the house for her helpful and cheerful personality. Feeling overwhelmed, Shonali also breaks down, being unable to accept all this positive feedback from her co-contestants. The contestants are told to provide their fellow contestants with feedback in one sentence or one word. Mandeep is appointed as a judge for this task. The contestants, however, are unable to follow the rules of the task due to which, Mandeep is punished.

Vida Samadzai is taken aback when she realizes that while she has limited friends outside the house, all contestants inside the house are being extremely friendly towards her and are willing to be her friends. This makes her extremely happy and she cries tears of joy.

Later in the night, Shraddha Sharma starts applying heavy makeup. When Shakti asks her why she is doing so, Shraddha replies it is for him. She wants to ensure that even if Shakti wakes up in the middle of the night to get himself a glass of water, he will see her looking beautiful for him.

Bigg Boss 5 nominations: Pooja Misrra vs Nihita Biswas

Mumbai: All the glitz and glam of the opening show is over and the real game of ‘eliminations’ in Bigg Boss 5 has begun.

In the first elimination process of Bigg Boss 5, housemates nominated Pooja Misrra and Nihita Biswas.
Pooja Misrra                                                                                      Nihita Biswas

As Shakti Kapoor is the captain of the Bigg Boss house for this week, he was asked to nominate four people for eliminations. Shakti voted against Nihita Biswas, Pooja Misrra, Gulabo Sapera, and Laxmi Narayan. And then rest of the housemates, except the ones nominated had to vote out two from the list.

Interestingly, except Shraddha Sharma everyone in the house voted against Pooja Misrra. May be Pooja’s tantrums over the air conditioner, her indifferent attitude and finally grumbling about Shakti Kapoor landed her in trouble.

As the housemates said, they failed to connect with Nihita and five people voted against her. Her statements regarding husband Charles Sobhraj has surely backfired for Nihita. In the late night bonding session with Pooja Missra, Nihita took a dig at Pooja Bedi and said, “If I am here because of my husband, she’s here because of her father.”

While Laxmi looked relived after nominations were over, Gulabo broke down into tears. Anyways Gulabo’s journey in Bigg Boss doesn’t seem to be really long, thanks to the mixed feelings of housemates about her.
Now, we will have to wait for a few days to find out who stays in the house and who goes home. Till then, let’s enjoy Shakti Kapoor flirting around with the stunning housemates and the daily dose of catfights.

In 'Bigg Boss 5' for new challenges: Nihita

Mumbai: Nihita Biswas, the Nepali wife of serial killer Charles Sobhraj, says that she is participating in the reality show 'Bigg Boss 5' to explore new challenges in life.

"We are just demanding a fair trial. It is a basic thing that we are asking for. He has been illegally convicted. He has been kept as a hostage in an illegal place. We would challenge the verdict in other court," Nihita claimed.

Sobhraj, who is of Indian and Vietnamese origin, has monikers like 'the serpent' and 'the bikini killer'. He allegedly committed at least 12 murders throughout Southeast Asia during the 70s, targetting mostly the Western tourists.
IBNLive
He has been behind bars in a Kathmandu prison since 2003 and fighting a legal battle in three courts there with each of them convicting him in connection with the murder of an American tourist in 1975.

Nihita, 22, shot to fame three years ago when she married Sobhraj in Kathmandu prison claiming she had fallen in love with him.

Nihita said she agreed to participate in the fifth season of the reality show 'Bigg Boss' to explore new challenges in life.

"Doing reality shows was never on my mind. I had not thought of it....it happened just that when I got the offer. I got a call for participating in this show and my husband said I must do it. He was very supportive. I think it will be a nice and different experience for me. It will also help me connect with different people," Nihita said.

"Prior to this (Bigg Boss 5) there were no offers from any reality show. I guess this show suits me. I like the concept of the show of being tried and tested in different situations. I can say the show is a challenge...like everything in life is a challenge. So I need to experience this challenge," she added.

Replying to a query regarding her perception regarding the show being hosted by actors Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt, she said "there is no purpose or reason to coming to this show. I am here only to get the new experience. One must try different things in life. I am going to be just myself on the show. There is no strategy that I would follow to woo other contestants".

"I have no expectations from the show. I do not know the consequences of doing this show. I don't know the outcome," Nihita added.

In Bigg Boss House sex query infuriates Nihita's mom

When Nihita Biswas Sobhraj made entertainment history on Monday night by becoming the first contestant from Nepal to take part in Indian TV channel Color's reality show Bigg Boss 5, back home in Kathmandu her family's moment of pride turned into shock and consternation at the first barrage of questions raining down on the 23-year-old.
Nihita With Her Mom
"I was shocked," said Nihita's mother Shakuntala Thapa, a senior lawyer practising at Nepal's Supreme Court, reacting to the question posed by one of the participants, news anchor Mandeep Belvi.

"Did you have sex with Sobhraj?" Belvi had asked Nihita after learning the young Nepali woman was the wife of Charles Gurmukh Sobhraj, branded the "Bikini Killer" by the tabloids in the 1970s when he was accused of a series of tourist killings in several Asian countries -- a charge that he has denied all through his career in crime.

When a blushing Nihita sought to parry the question, the next query was why did she marry him then.

"We have a conservative society in Nepal," Thapa told IANS.

"People don't ask such questions, especially to people they have known only for 15 minutes. Nihita is young and led a sheltered life. We encouraged her to join the show thinking she would make friends with people from different cultures and broaden her horizon."

"We didn't expect such sensationalism or ignorance."

Thapa wondered how a news anchor could be ignorant about prison norms.

"Sobhraj is in prison whereas Nihita is not," Thapa said. "How could the question of having sex with a prisoner arise?"

Though Nepal's apex court recently ruled prisoners should be allowed their conjugal rights, it has not been implemented by the prison authorities and is likely to remain an impossibility given how the prisons are crowded and lacking funds and other resources.

Nihita says she fell in love with Sobhraj, who is 44 years older, at first sight when she visited him in Kathmandu's Central Prison after she heard he was looking for a Nepali interpreter for his visiting French lawyer.

The romance blossomed into a "marriage" inside the prison three years ago during the festival time when prisoners were allowed to mingle with visitors. However, beyond a ritualistic exchange of garlands and rings, there has been no actual consummation of the marriage that made Nihita the butt of ridicule and scathing public criticism.

Thapa, who is close to Nepal's ruling Maoist party, is a feminist and a Communist who regards beauty pageants as derogatory to women. When Nihita was a baby, Thapa dissociated herself from her husband, an Indian from West Bengal who, according to reports, was a wastrel and maltreated his children.

Since then, she has brought up her two children single-handedly, no mean task in a traditional society like Nepal where the husband's approval was once mandatory for many things -- from getting a passport to opening a bank account.

Thapa, who watched the fourth edition of Bigg Boss last year, had liked the mix of participants, who she thought were intellectuals as well.

However, she is dismayed at the present lot, feeling that since most of them share the same showbiz background, Nihita, away from home for the first time, would feel isolated in their midst.

Thapa, however, admires three of the contestant.

Folk dancer Gulabi Sapera, who narrated how her tribe killed girl children by burying them alive, is the one she admires most. She also admires third gender activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi and singer Raageshwari, who overcame facial paralysis.

She identifies with them because she and her children have faced severe struggle, with the Supreme Court even sentencing her to prison along with Nihita for questioning its impartiality in finding Sobhraj guilty of murder without real evidence.

While some of the contestants, like actor Pooja Bedi, are reported to be carrying a designer wardrobe with them to "Bigg Boss", the climactic item in Nihita's simple wardrobe is a sari from West Bengal. The only bit of help she sought from her mother before leaving for Mumbai was for a quick lesson in how to wear a cotton sari.

Guess, who Salman got inside Bigg Boss 5

Mahek Chahel, who started her career with Nayee Padosan also shook a leg with Dharmendra in Yamla Pagla Deewana
She shined in Bollywood with a few films, only to fade into anonymity soon after. Had it not been for Salman Khan, Bollywood starlet Mahek Chahel would not have participated in Bigg Boss 5. Congrats, if you guessed it right! The actor who started her career with Nayee Padosan also did an item number in Chameli.

Salman Khan not only recommended her name to several production houses, he also helped her get into Bigg Boss 5, reports Mumbai Mirror. Mahek has also done bit roles in Salman's Wanted and Main Aurr Mrs Khanna.

The starlet had returned to her house in Norway, when she got a call from the makers of Bigg Boss 5.

“Mahek was very disappointed with the way Bollywood treated her. She felt that she deserved a better deal and moved back to Norway. Salman was still in touch with her. In fact it was he who recommended her name to the producers of Bigg Boss,” a source told Mumbai Mirror.

Mahek said yes to the offer immediately, as she trusts Salman blindly.

Mahek Chahel reportedly was ready with her bags to enter the house when she got a confirmation call from the channel.

Just Dance winner Ankan Sen wants to become the best dancer

He is 18 and has not taken formal dance training but Ankan Sen received his moment of fame when he won Star Plus' Just Dance. The youngster now aims to become the "best dancer ever".

"It feels like I am still dreaming and I really don't want to get out of it. It's simply a great feeling and an even more flattering thing was that I got a chance to shake a leg with my idol Hrithik Roshan on the same stage," Ankan, who hails from Kolkata, told IANS on the phone from Mumbai.

Ankan on Saturday beat Mumbai boy Karan Khanna and Delhi-based Surjeet Bansal, both 24, to walk away with the winner's trophy, a Rs1 crore cash award and a Maruti Suzuki Swift.
So what does he plan to do with the money?

"I want to buy a laptop, I want to learn international dance forms and perfect my style. I would dedicate myself completely to dance and make it big in this art. I want to be known as the best dancer ever. I also plan to conduct my own workshops," Ankan says.

Ankan has been enthralling TV viewers as well as the judges of the show with his contemporary and hip hop dance moves, as a result of which judges Hrithik, Vaibhavi Merchant and Farah Khan nicknamed him the "Wonder Boy".
Dance has become a part of his life but Ankan says: "My parents were never in favour of me taking it up as a profession. They were not very happy when I told them about my audition in Just Dance, but now their perception has changed towards dance and they completely support me now."

Ankan credits Bollywood 'god of dance' Hrithik for whatever he has learned.

"Hrithik Roshan has been my biggest inspiration. I used to look at his videos and learn steps. I also saw videos of Ganesh Hedge to practise the steps," says Ankan, who dropped out of school after class 10 to learn dance.

"Today if anybody asks me where did I learn dance from I would say Just Dance. Before coming to the show I didn't know much about dance. On this platform I got a chance to learn almost all forms of dance," he adds.

"I used to feel nervous before the performance but once I would go on stage and see Hrithik sir, Vaibhavi mam and Farah mam in front of me, all my nervousness used to vanish. I just thought I have to give my best," he states.

Blink and you'll miss her: The X Factor bosses gloss over contestant Sian Phillips' axing over criminal past

X Factor producers glossed over the axing of popular contestant Sian Phillips in tonight's judges houses round of auditions.

The 24-year-old Liverpudlian was invited to audition at Kelly Rowland's home in Miami in the girls' category, but was denied a visa because of her criminal past.

She was swiftly replaced by 17-year-old Sarah Watson, who said her last-minute inclusion was 'still sinking in' as she sat on the beach in Florida in tonight's episode.

Axed: Sian Phillips' exit from the X Factor, after her US visa was refused, was glossed over on tonight's show
17-year-old Sarah Watson has stepped into the girls' category in Sian's place
The X Factor brushed over Sian's removal as they introduced the female contestants, simply saying that she wasn't able to continue in the competition, before introducing Miss Watson.

Final eight: Sarah, third left, joined the other girl contestants (L-R) Holly, Melanie, Misha, Amelia, Janet, Sophie and Jade

Watch out for colourful, compact ‘Bigg Boss 5′ house

Click For Enlarge
The “Bigg Boss 5″ house is bright and nice thanks to a riot of colours – green, fuschia, yellow and more – and, due to its compact and transparent design, it is expected to spark riots among the 14 contestants participating in the Colors’ reality show.

The design by interior designer Shayam Bhatia is intentional, reveals Ashwini Yardi, programming head, Colors.

“We have made the house more compact this time around, so that people are more in each other’s face,” Yardi told reporters.

For 100 days, the contestants will be locked inside the 9,000 square feet house, which has been moved from the busy markets of Lonavala to the lush plains of Karjat. As many as 55 cameras have been placed inside the house to pry upon their activities 24×7.

The show, to be co-hosted by actors Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan, will go on air Sunday. The official list of participants is yet to be unveiled. However, names like Nihita Biswas, the Nepali wife of alleged murderer Charles Sobhraj, actress Pooja Bedi, TV actress Parul Chauhan, and even international boxing champion Mike Tyson are expected to be on the show.

From the design of the house, one can imagine that the tolerance level of the contestants will be tested to the hilt. Since the house is smaller as compared to previous seasons of the show, it barely leaves space for any housemate for privacy.

The jail, where indisciplined contestants can be locked, makes a comeback this season, and the much-used kitchen sink has been placed in the garden area to cause more inconvenience and create fiction between the participants.

The house also has a lot of glass, due to which one can view the entire expanse — from the entry of the house to the bedroom all in one go, including the outdoor and living section of the house.

The two separate bedrooms, in shades of green and fuchsia with a hint of white, brown and yellow, have no differentiation for the sexes. Maintaining tradition since last year, there’s a special bedroom for the head-of-house, who will get some luxuries and special privileges.

The open kitchen is connected with a dining room that extends to the garden area, and the outdoor area has gained more prominence with the pool area, the activity area, the gymnasium and the kitchen sink being placed there.

The house has a common washroom, as well as a common bath for male and female contestants.
The confession room, where the contestants get a chance to interact with the “Bigg Boss”, is done in shades of royal green.

Nihita eyes Bigg Boss fame, Sobhraj eyes European Parliament

Nihita Biswas Sobhraj
As 23-year-old Nihita Biswas Sobhraj becomes the first Nepali to take part in Bigg Boss reality show on Indian television from Sunday, her 67-year-old "celebrity" husband will be gearing up to take his battle for freedom to a new arena - the European Parliament.

After having knocked on the doors of the UN Human Rights Committee (HRC) in Geneva for "justice", Sobhraj, who is serving a 20-year life term in Kathmandu's Central Jail for the murder of an American backpacker in 1975, will now ask the European Parliament in Strasbourgto intervene on his behalf.

"I am a European and it is the responsibility of the European Parliament to intervene when its nationals face injustice," Sobhraj, the troubled boy from Vietnam who became a French citizen after being adopted by his French stepfather, told IANS. "The UN Human Rights Committee has recognised that the trials in Nepal were biased against me.

Two of the lower courts that convicted me did not bother to call any witnesses, the case documents were all photocopies of faked documents and the authorities did not provide me with any interpreter though the entire legal proceeding was in Nepali." This week, as Nihita flew out of Kathmandu to head for Mumbai to take part in the fifth edition of the Bigg Boss, to be hosted by Salman Khan andSanjay Dutt, Sobhraj filed a mandamus petition in Nepal's Supreme Court, the same court that last year upheld the lower courts' "guilty" verdict against him.

The mandamus reminded the court that in February this year, his French lawyer Isabelle Coutant Peyre had slapped a legal notice on Nepal's then prime minister Jhala Nath Khanal and President, Ram Baran Yadav, asking them to pay a compensation of 6 million euro for Sobhraj's illegal detention in Nepal since 2003 and the "biased" trials that led to his conviction last year.

The mandamus petition has asked the government of Nepal to respect and abide by its international and constitutional obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights which, according to the HRC, were flouted in Sobhraj's case.

Once Nepal's courts, mostly closed for the long Dashain holidays, reopen, Sobhraj's Nepali lawyer Shakuntala Thapa, who is also Nihita's mother, will also file a new case in the Supreme Court, saying his rights were violated by the previous jailer of the Central Prison. Nepal's laws say if anyone wants to have a Supreme Court verdict reviewed by a full bench of at least five judges, the application has to be filed within two months of the verdict. However, in Sobhraj's case, though the Supreme Court passed its judgment on the murder of Connie Jo Bronzich last year, he failed to ask for a review as he says the then jailer refused to forward the petition and relevant documents to the court and thereby violated his rights. Sobhraj told IANS, through his lawyer, that he was confident Nihita, whom he says he married while inside prison, would be able to hold her own with the other contestants in Bigg Boss.

He is also hoping that the contest, which will last for 98 days, will give her a platform to tell the outside world about the injustice done to him in Nepal by the police and courts. The first murder conviction in Nepal's district court, for instance, had the judge delivering a "guilty" verdict on the basis of erroneous reading. In a letter written in the past from Delhi's Tihar Jail, he had said that his then accomplice Marie LeClerc had not told her parents about her "illegal" activities.

The handwritten letter, published in a book, The Life and Crimes of Charles Sobhraj, was presented as evidence by the prosecutor and the judge, Bishwombhar Shrestha, read "illegal" as "Nepal" and said it proved Sobhraj had visited Nepal in 1975 despite his denials and found him guilty of murder.
