Happy Birthday Sadaa!

Beautiful Sadaa is celebrating her birthday today. We wish this wonderful actress a very happy birthday and many more returns of this special day.

Getting introduced to cinema in 2002 through Jayam, Sadaa has achieved so much in such a short time! Ironically, the dialogue which made Sadaa a household name was “Poyaa... Po”, which means “go away”! The elegant manner in which she delivered the dialogue – a hand pointing away from her, head bobbing rhythmically to the tone of her voice – only had the opposite effect; the audience found themselves attracted to her just like the film’s protagonist! And that's it! Sadaa was a celebrity overnight! Every South Indian film industry wanted to claim this actress as its own, which saw this slim and beautiful belle act in a string of movies in all the South Indian languages. Soon, Bollywood – the mecca of all film heroines –  and Sandalwood beckoned!

Radikaa Sarathkumar turns 33!

You read it right! The dynamic movie and small screen personality just completed 33 years -- in showbiz! It seems like just yesterday that we laid eyes on the awkward young actress who could barely get her lines out! Look at her now. That young girl feels like another person in another lifetime, a true metamorphosis!

Although her brother (Radharavi) and father (M.R. Radha) were respected actors in the movie biz, Radikaa was a reluctant debutante when she starred in Bharathiraja’s Kizhake Pogum Rayil. This maiden was just 15 during her maiden performance; in spite of her initial apprehension, she continued and bloomed in the field that had found her. From one movie to the next, Radikaa showed radical improvement in terms of performance, hard work and dedication. In a matter of a few years she evolved into an actress to reckon with. With an amazing screen presence and a powerful persona, she is an actress who can intimidate even the most skilled veterans. And she’s not restricted herself to cinema. With a long list of supporting roles in films still coming her way, she is a busy TV actress-producer. Her production house Radaan Media Works has produced several successful serials, including the iconic 'Chitti' and current TV Topper 'Chellame'. Her serials are popular in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states (dubbed versions). Her media house has even produced a handful of movies, including Sarathkumar’s Jaggubai.

Some memorable Radikaa starrers (in Tamil) include Kizhake Pogum Rayil, Indru Poi Naalai Vaa, Pokkiri Raja, Ranga, Moondru Mugam, Thavani Kanavugal, Paer Sollum Pillai, Irattaivaal Kuruvi, Keladi Kanmani, Kizhakku Seemaiyile, Pavithra, Suryavamsam, Jeans, Roja Kootam.

Her husband Sarathkumar and good friend actor Abbas hosted a surprise party for Radikaa in Chennai, with elite guests like Rajni, Kamal, Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Bhagyaraj, Suriya, Jyotika, Karthi, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Ramya Krishnan and several others. Each person came forward and shared their emotions about their friend, mentor and “Akka” Radikaa. We at Galatta congratulate her and wish her many more successful years in cinema.

Nayantara to quit films after Sri Rama Rajyam?

2010 was favourable to Nayantara as an actress, though it put immense pressure her as an individual, thanks to her relationship with Prabhu Deva!

With the back-to-back success of her almost all films in 2010, everybody thought that she would regain her No. 1 position in the South in 2011, but things are apparently not working out like that!

Sources close to the actress reveal that she has stopped giving dates and is planning to quit films after completing her ongoing Telugu project Sri Rama Rajyam, a mythological film in which she plays Sita.

The buzz is that Prabhu Deva had asked her to quit films after Sri Rama Rajyam, since they are getting married by the year end. A website also quoted the actress as saying: "Prabhu Deva told me not to act in films post marriage. Having thought it through and discussed it with wellwishers, I am absolutely confident it is the right decision for me." So Sri Rama Rajyam is most likely to be her swan song as an actress.

The latest buzz is that charming beauty Charmi, who recently did an item song in Ragada, would handle the item number in this film too! Initially, Gabbar Singh's makers approached Malaika Arora herself for the item number, but due to her high fee, they gave up the efforts.

Gabbar Singh is produced by Pawan Kalyan himself under the banner of Creative Works and Harish Shankar is the director. Kajal Aggarwal is the heroine. Srikanth plays Pawan Kalyan's brother, while Krishnam Raju and Jayasudha play his parents. Devi Sri Prasad is scoring the music.
