Vastadu Naa Raju Movies Reviews

Narsimha (Prakash Raj), a rowdy in the city works for Home Minister Adi Keshava Rao (Sayaji Shinde). Adi Keshava Rao son Ajay (Ajay) loves Pooja (Tapsee), sister of Narsimha.Adi Keshava Rao fixes his son’s marriage with Pooja. The marriage will be personal benefit to Adi Keshava Rao while political benefit to Narsimha.

Venki (Vishnu), son of Tanikella Bharani has only one ambition, to become a boxing champion. He doesn’t believe in girls or love. However, series of events made Pooja family and Venki family believe that there is a love affair between them. In real, Venki and Pooja don’t know and never talked to each other.

The whole misunderstanding lead Narsimha to attack Tanikella Bharani bakery shop and break the engagement of Venki sister. After few scenes, Venki kidnaps Pooja to settle the score with Narsimha.

What did Venki do to the kidnaped Pooja? Is there any love between Venki and Pooja? If there is love, are they successfully married breaking the engagement with Home Minister son? Go and watch the movie to know all these questions.
Performance

Vishnu slim physique is not suited well for a boxing champion role. His face looked dull and no energy in the performance. Vishnu had tried hard to imitate dad Mohan Babu in dialogues but nowhere near. Definitely need to work on his dance movements.

Tapsee gave same expressions for every scene. Other than exposing her Navel in songs, she didn’t justify her selection.

Prakash Raj performed this kind of role umpteen times. Sayaji Shinde is regular. Tanikella Bharani under utilized. Brahmanandam comedy is weak. Surekha Vani, Satya Krishna, Ajay justified their roles.

Jeeva, Narsing, Shiva Reddy, Rajesh, and Ali are for the namesake.
Technical

Debutant director Hemanth Madhukar lived up to his debutant tag. He showed his in experience in every single scene. He needs to work heavily on his screenplay. Storyline of the movie is not bad, but script and screenplay killed the movie.

Manisharma music is good. All songs are good for listening. Rerecording is a big letdown.Cinematography is very poor. Lack of dancing ability by lead pair reflected in the songs picturisation. Action scenes are composed average manner. Editing is poor. Even production values are not high standard.
Analysis

In the first place, ‘Vastadu Naa Raju’ title is not apt for the film. One doesn’t understand who is waiting for whom in the movie. There is no story in the entire first half other than songs and forced comedy. Real story starts just before the interval, but never really took off. It runs with slow pace testing the patience of the audience.

Forced comedy between Brahmanandam and Surekha Vani, Ajay calling Prakash Raj wife (she is sister to Ajay in relation  to club should have avoided.  No song is situational and all the songs are forced to break the snail pace of the movie.

Overall, Vishnu has to wait for his next movie to prove his mettle as hero. ‘Vastadu Naa Raju’ is below average movie, which may not appeal to multiplex and A center audiences. It is run in B, C centers are also doubtful.

Kareena to pay tribute to Sridevi

Kareena Kapoor has only agreed to do one tribute so far to her own sister, Karisma Kapoor, at an  award function a couple of years ago.

A little convincing by her best friend, Ekta Kapoor, however, has made her agree to perform to Sridevi's songs as a tribute to her at Balaji's Global Indian Film & TV Honours (GIFTH).

Says a source close to Kareena, "She will be performing to a medley of Sridevi's hit songs at Balaji's Global Indian Film & TV Honours.

Sridevi will be present there. Kareena will perform to songs like Morni bagamaa bole, Mere haatho mein nau nau chudiyaan hain and Hawa hawai among many others. She has handpicked and selected the songs herself."

"Normally, Kareena doesn't pay tributes to other actors but likes to dance to her own songs. When Ekta came and met her and explained the concept of how she wanted B-Town's reigning queen (Kareena) to pay a tribute to another reigning queen of the previous generation (Sridevi), Kareena couldn't refuse," said the source.

Kareena will also be dancing on Nainon mein sapna, which featured Ekta and Tusshar Kapoor's father Jeetendra along with Sridevi. Manish Malhotra, who used to design for Sridevi, is also designing for Kareena for the show.

"Sridevi is iconic. This generation has no idea about her fan following. Sridevi was a darling of the masses, like Kareena is today! I find Kareena and Sridevi very similar filmi heroines with whom the masses instantly connect too," said Ekta.

"Twenty years ago, Kareena would have been a worthy competitor to Sridevi as would Sridevi to Kareena today.

They share the same bubbliness and mass connect. I have watched their films Himmatwala and Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai and been witness to the mass hysteria of their audience. I have never seen this kind of mass reaction for any other actress. Kareena is the perfect person to pay a tribute to Sridevi. Who wouldn't want to see Kareena dance to Sridevi's hits?" she added.

Kareena said, "I'm a big fan of Sridevi and have grown up watching her films. I'm very excited and humbled to be performing to her songs. It is an honour and I feel proud to step into her shoes."

Tapasee talks about Vastadu Naa Raju

After marking her Telugu debut with K. Raghavendra Rao's Jhummandi Naadam, starring Manoj Manchu, glamour doll Tapasee is currently doing her second Telugu film Vastadu Naa Raju, directed by Hemant Madhukar with Vishnu Manchu in the lead.

Talking about this film, slated for February 11 release, the actress said in an interview: "I play a normal Telugu, middle-class city girl brought up by her elder brother. They don't have parents. There are no negative characters; it's only the situations. Prakashraj, who plays my brother, does certain things which he thinks right for his sister but actually, he is wrong. I heard that people were awed by my glamour in Jhummandi Naadam but they didn't notice my performance. Vastadu Naa Raju is the answer to those people who think I can do only glamour roles. It will show what variety roles I can do. I am waiting for the response."

Asked if she signed Vastadu Naa Raju because it is a mass entertainer, she said: "It was the script. In fact the character is ordinary but it's the storyline -- how the character moves with the story -- which made me sign it."
