There's news that the actor has moved on and is thinking of settling down sooner than we thought...

It's been months enough for John Abraham to have moved on - seriously - after his break-up with Bipasha Basu. The guy, who has been active on the date scene for quite some time now, seems to be slowing down!

After having made his first public appearance with alleged investment-banker-girlfriend Priya Marwah, all hell has broken lose, and some of his close friends have been compelled to talk to us.

"John has always been hot and happening. However, he hasn't been an irresponsible casanova. He has been serious in his relationships. His current relationship seems to make him happy, and he seems to be serious about this too, so much so that he may also be considering marriage."

If sources are to be believed, John Abraham will is seriously contemplating on making us hear the wedding tolls sooner than we thought. We are informed that the wedding is to take place in 2012. "John finds himself in a good and secure place now. It would be a good time to settle down," we are told.

John Abraham, on the other hand, wishes to keep his personal life private, and isn't going hammer and tongs giving away information about the special lady in his life, although he confirms that there is one that means the world to him

Genelia D’Souza stepped out of her comfort zone for John Abraham, as the duo shot a bedroom sequence along with a honeymoon song for their forthcoming film, Force. The 24-year-old actor said it’s the first time in her eight-year long career that she agreed to such a scene, but only on one condition that it should look aesthetic. 

Genelia also hopes to put an end to the never-ending speculations around her personal life and her relationship with actor Ritesh Deshmukh. “I’ve never spoken about my personal life and I plan to keep doing so. Riteish is a good friend. When and if I decide to get married, I will announce it myself.”

Chemistry with JohnI was never sure but John always knew we would rock. He is a tall and tough guy, and I am this petite girl. But later I discovered that’s the beauty of the chemistry. We look different but yet so right. Imran and I look cute, John and Katrina look hot, but John and I look adorable. 

Bedroom scene
I had reservations, but after talking to my director Nishikanth Kamath, I agreed because the scene has no lust, no focussing on body parts, no unnecessary taking off clothes, there is just innocent love. Even my family did not have any apprehensions watching the scene or the honeymoon song.

Married to JohnRumours of my link ups with co-stars was common, but this time the pandit who shot with us for the wedding scene just got me married to John. He claimed that he chanted all the mantras, as he would have for a real wedding. Either he’s lost it or someone is trying to malign my image.

Shadowed by JohnForce is John’s film and I was very clear about it since the beginning. I am not insecure about the length of my role as far as I am confident that without me there is no story. I am the common thread that is very much evident in the promos and an important part of the film too.

Fell on John 
Due to cable failure, Genelia fell on John, giving him a hairline fracture in his left hand. “It is really sad as he is still struggling and it is not fully healed. The film is not make belief action and as it’s real action, John got hurt in many a scenes. Fortunately, I had the easier portions to play.”

Fitness Fundas of Bollywood Star John Abraham

John Abraham has been making headlines for his toned physique in the latest action flick Force.

Unfazed by competition from peers and seniors in the six-pack-abs race, John says his only benchmark is his own cult look in Dostana. John says in his own small way, he is happy to have inspired youngsters to take fitness seriously. We spoke to the actor on the fitness scene in Bollywood and got him to reveal some of his health secrets.

Fitness in tinsel town
Straight off the mark John insists, "Today every actor is taking his body seriously. I love to see everyone around me looking so good. Cinema is a visual medium and for us fitness is a part of the job...A difficult job!"

John however feels that except Akshay Kumar, a lot of actors make the mistake of focusing only on the upper body and ignore the legs. "There is an old saying in bodybuilding, that testosterone shoots bottom up. So you have to have great legs for a great body".

Undefined workout mantra
On his own approach to fitness, John says, "Honestly there are no shortcuts to getting a good body. I have been working out for more than 10 years. Even when I am extremely tensed about work, I don't miss my workouts. And the end result is worth it, as there is nothing better than being appreciated for how you look".

John however is quick to add that you don't need to spend excessively to get fit. "I came from a very basic background and I could afford only an X amount". He says discipline and diet go a long way in helping you get a great body. "Just going to the gym and lifting weights doesn't help," he argues.

Daily diet
Given the extreme levels of training John undergoes, he reveals, "Supplements constitute 30 percent of my nutrition. That's because regular food is not enough to complete the protein chain".

"But the rest is all natural. I have a very healthy breakfast, so I can't buy the argument when people say they don't get time in the morning. Try to include eggs for protein and fruits for fructose in your diet".

The not-to-do list
Speaking on lifestyle vices, John says, "I perhaps can't tell anyone not to drink. But drugs, guthka and pan masala are a complete NO NO. I think drugs are the worst thing to happen to any society. Youngsters must know it's not cool to smoke up in a group and they need to be responsible regardless of age".

Fitness beyond force
John doesn't deny reports that he even abstained from water for a few days to get in shape for the film. "Before we have a body shot we reduce the intake of water, salt and sugar marginally for a couple of days. It's very damaging in the long run but we need to eliminate any form of water retention to get the desired bare bodied look". John trained for over eight months on this film but says he still has scope for perfection in the fitness department. "I think currently I am at 70 per cent of my peak fitness level. Hopefully in three years I will be 90-95 per cent," John signs off.

Movie Review: Force

Film: "Force"

A raw rugged cop's tale of vicious vendetta fused into a tender romance seems like a hard act to live up to. But Nishikant Kamat, seeking inspiration from a hit Tamil film "Kaakha Kaakha" manages just fine.

He gets incredible support from dialogue writer Ritesh Shah, who infuses every exchange on love (with the girl who won't take no for an answer) and war (against drug peddlers) with a kind of lived-in warmth and familiarity.

Kamat, who earlier made "Mumbai Meri Jaan​" on terrorism and the city of Mumbai, here has a blast bringing back the old-fashioned action hero. John Abraham has worked hard on his physique and his expressions too look like a cop who thinks falling in love would take him away from his line of duty.

Enter the vivacious effervescent girl nextdoor. Genelia with her multiplicity of expressions aptly plays "Bubbly" to this duty-bound "Bunty" who would rather not get entangled in human foibles like love and family. But the inevitable happens.

Kamat lovingly weaves the love story between the impish girl nextdoor and the gentle giant into the persistent call of duty, making sure the film's claims to be an action film doesn't get drowned in mush.

While the first hour is a loose bag of striking shootouts staged in crowded localities of Mumbai and some highly dispensable romantic songs, it is the second-hour where the narration really gathers momentum pitching the relentless cop against his chief adversary a drug dealer named Vishnu, played with arresting elan by debutant Vidyut Jamwal.

The man-to-man confrontations between Abraham and Jamwal have a rousing rugged resonance to them. They may make you squirm with their brutality. But the two look like well-matched opponents. Action director Allan Amin devises combats that convey a bone-crunching realism.

The two adversaries take care of the rest. John gives a finely pitched performance looking every inch like the action hero who can deliver that punch. He handles both the brutal and tender moments in the violence and romance, with ease.

Newcomer Vidyut Jamwal makes a formidable adversary. The menace is not only in the physique but the tone. This man means business. Some of the supporting cast is interesting too.

"Force" is a full-on action film with balls, brawn and brains. It's the kind of virile cinema where action speaks louder than words. Blessedly the narrative secretes some fine dialogues and tender love story that goes with the turbulent territory. Nishikant Kamat balances out the colour khaki with sharp colours of humour and romance.

Premiering Paap in Pakistan was a big risk: Pooja Bhatt

Actress Pooja Bhatt says she endured a "big risk" by holding the premiere of her directorial debut 'Paap' at Karachi Film Festival in 2003 in Pakistan.

"When I took my film to Pakistan even before it was commercially released, everyone was shocked," Bhatt said on the sidelines of the South Asian Film Festival (SAFF) which is beginning from today.

'Paap', starring Udita Goswami and John Abraham, was the first Bollywood film to be premiered at Karachi International Film Festival.

"People in the industry were questioning my act of taking the film to the place which is hotbed of piracy that too before the film was released," the 'Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi' actress said.

Recalling how apprehensive she was while screening 'Paap' to a select and decent audience in Pakistan, the actress-turned-director said, "there was constant fear that someone might come with the video camera, shoot the film and make CD of it. I decided to take it as a personal responsibility and stick my neck out," she added.

The actress, who has directed flicks like Holiday (2006) and Dhokha (2007) among others, however, said piracy is a reality in the world of cinema today as a large number of audience can not afford to visit multiplexes to enjoy a movie of their choice.

Dishy dude John Abraham is back to doing a mean act. In Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout at Wadala the model-turned-actor will play a role based on Mumbai gangster Manya Surve, who came into the limelight during Dawood Ibrahim’s reign. Unlike other real-life ‘inspired’ roles, Gupta intends to make his film’s character very much like the criminal. Well, whether John’s characterisation comes close to Manya’s persona or not, wethinks this baddie role will give the much needed boast to John’s rather dull career. Remember how when the last time the good-looking actor played a bad guy in Dhoom, his luck changed drastically? Suddenly the expressionless actor found a long queue of producers waiting outside his house. It lasted for a while, but John’s steady flops (Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, Jhootha Hi Sahi) drove away those same filmmakers. Why celebs supported Anna Hazare?

They say there is always another side to every story.

As we see the 'face of the nation', Anna Hazare getting open support from various Bollywood celebs, it makes us wonder what brought them to the center stage of this political uprising. B-Town bigwigs Aamir Khan, Raju Hirani and Om Puri were present at the Ramlila Maidan, Delhi, while others like John Abraham, Vidya Balalan, Sonu Nigam, Kailash Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Celina Jaitley, Udita Goswami et al, were supporting Anna's fight against corruption directly or indirectly in various cities.

So, what's the agenda behind the celeb support for Anna? Are these stars cutting a piece of cake for themselves? Says Kailash, "When you see these stars, it's visible that they are fake, that they are fooling people and are doing it for the sake of free publicity. I have never seen people changing colors like that." But then he diplomatically adds, "In India the system breaks you and your spirit. And this makes people think why should I initiate a process. With Anna taking such a strong stand, it has given people hope to fight for a cause, something to fall back on when they want to take a stand against something."

There also surfaces a subtle divide within the hitherto united 'big family' - the Hindi film industry. Even as Anupam Kher, (who played the ideologically upright headmaster in Saaransh) came out to support Anna, the man who made the movie and his former mentor, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt opposed Anna's stance. On one hand, we had Aamir making his positive presence felt, and Salman's bodyguards beat up Anna supporters on the other.

While Amitabh Bachchan and Shekhar Kapur openly supported Anna on microblogging sites, Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar were skeptical and Ram Gopal Varma even pretended ignorance about Anna! And then there were some who suddenly resurfaced from almost anonymity (like Raja Bundela, Sambhavna Seth, Raghubir Yadav) to ensure that they championed the most talked about cause of the moment. With their movies up for release, you could see some star casts in the front row of the protest rallies.

There was John Abraham breaking "dahi handis of corruption"as he put it during Janmashtami celebrations, Vishal Dadlani and Raghu Ram bragging about their 'participation in the Mumbai rally to support Anna' on social networking sites, and Vidya Balan, Shreyas, Bipasha, Udita and Celina in their Anna topis, Rakhi Sawant berating Team Anna, Jacquiline Fernandez refusing to support Anna - every celeb wanted a piece of Anna.

But do these celebrities really need to be out there in what it is being called the common man's revolution? Udita says, "I feel celebrities should stay away from the entire campaign. If this is a common man's uprising then it should remain like that and with Bollywood celebrities appearing on stage, the focus inadvertently shifts to the glamour they automatically bring in." But the ways and the cause is again appreciated and supported, she says, "It has definitely made a difference as we in India have become used to bomb blasts, but a man fasting has stirred the whole nation."

Opportunity knocks only once on your God forsaken door and it's wise to make use of it. However, to say that exactly that's what is happening will be drawing your own conclusions, but also there is no smoke without fire. Anna is surely fighting for one cause we all have got affected with at least once in our lifetime and actress Shital Shah sums it up best when she says, "I am happy that Anna managed to raise a very pertinent issue and sensitize the masses to it. What team Anna has come up with may not be foolproof and it would require some time on the part of everyone to bring out a bill that is in the best interests of the country." Chips in Celina, "Sometimes a change needs a revolution and the stand against corruption has brought every citizen of this country together just like we stood against the British. Celebrities supporting a good cause is important because we are all in our own ways role models to someone or the other. Mostly the youth in India needs the correct motivation."

With the impact of Anna being all-permeating at the moment, for many celebrities, it was also a chance to be in the arclight once again, so they seized the day to get every Anna's worth of publicity that can only help them professionally in the long run.

A friend in need is a friend indeed. And John Abraham with his recent deed has just proved how good a friend he was to Akshay Kumar. John bailed the Khiladi Kumar out at a media conference by lending him his mean machine.

Akshay was all set to address the media at Filmcity Studios for his upcoming reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi. While it was planned that the actor will make his entry in a car, at the last minute, Kumar changed his mind and wanted to enter riding his bike instead.

However, his bike, not too happy with the renewed plans, decided to throw up a few mechanical problems. Troubled, Akki called up his friend and Desi Boyz co-star John Abraham.

Now, John, we all know has a penchant for two wheelers. Out of his assortment, he happily sent one for his friend instantly. This, it may be recalled, is the same John who had once said to the media, "I love motorcycles, I am married to them and I have had a honeymoon period with them. I don't let anyone sit on my bikes or touch them."

In fact, even his girlfriend (now, ex-girlfriend), Bipasha Basu was not allowed to damage his bikes. "Bipasha doesn't like sitting on my bike because I am very passionate and possessive about my bike.

When she sits, I keep saying 'I hope you don't leave a scratch on the bike and all that', so that's why she prefers a car to sitting behind me in a bike," John had told reporters in Delhi during an event, way back in 2009. But for a friend like Akshay, John did not seem to think even twice.

A source from the unit said, "It was a well rehearsed act. Akshay was supposed to recite the Gayatri Mantra and then make his grand entry in a car. However, in the afternoon, he decided that he would make his entry in a bike instead.

So, he called his staff and asked them to send his bike to Filmcity. He was informed that there was some technical issue with his bike. So, Akshay was stuck and didn't know what to do. That's when he decided to call his buddy John Abraham. John immediately agreed and in no time the bike was with him."

When contacted John Abraham said, "Yes Akshay did call me and I sent my bike. I immediately asked my man Friday Chiru to pick up the bike from Bandra and give it to Akshay at Filmcity."

So, John did finally, part with his bike. For once. Wonder what his ex Bipasha has to say to that.
