Box Office: Bodyguard takes gigantic opening across multiplexes
Salman Khan's Bodyguard has taken a super duper opening at multiplexes across India. The movie opened at multiplexes and single screens across the country on Wednesday.
Given by the initial reaction to the movie, Bodyguard is all set to give tough competition to previous opening weekend toppers like Dabangg, Ready and 3 Idiots.
According to initial reports, multiplexes in metros saw packed houses in the morning show for Bodyguard. Moreover, the five day festive Eid weekend is only going to bolster collections for the movie.
Also slated to release alongside Bodyguard are movies like That Girl In Yellow Boots, Bas Ek Tamanna, Bol and Mummy Punjabi. While chances for these films are bleak at the box office, they might have a spillover audience in those who failed to get tickets for Bodyguard.

There are three movies struggling to emerge from Salman Khan's Popeye-like biceps. A cheeky, live-my-life movie where a bodyguard who travels by local train gets to share space with a princess who lives in a palace in the fictional Jaisinghpur. A sexy, physical romance where Khan's pectorals are in conversation with Kareena Kapoor's aesthetically curved belly, bared in a sari that stays up through sheer will power. And a social drama which pits a feudal sarkar-raj mindset with a modern urge to choose love.
Unfortunately all three sub plots are crushed under the mighty weight of the Khan star machine. It is relentless. Khan invents dance steps which will no doubt be immediately cloned in wedding parties across India, flexing his biceps and twisting his calves. He finds everyday elements to beat his opponents, from tree trunks to shovels, and doesn't think twice about using the latter as a back-scratching device. He also makes jokes in rhyme (I'm not a fool/You think I'm in nursery school?). When a local train is going in the wrong direction, he simply flies through the air using cables to get to his destination.
Anyone who has watched Khan's recent movies will recognise the signs -- a killer dialogue which will be remembered till the next blockbuster is manufactured, a signature ring tone, and a pre-fight ritual-in this case, it is taking off his watch. The familiarity is somewhat comforting. The fort where the climactic action scene is staged, with Aditya Pancholi as a worthy opponent, has appeared in Wanted. The shirt flying off and revealing Khan's taut torso is achieved with a jet of water and not wind as in Dabbangg, though the effect is the same. And Khan, as bodyguard Lovely Singh, is as enterprising with his fights as Ready's Prem.
The viewer is not enthralled but bhaijaan has done the best that his comic strip straitjacket could allow him. It helps that Kareena Kapoor doesn't break into giggles when he plays the tentative lover.

Aishwarya Rai issues legal notice to ‘Heroine’ makers!
Just a few days back, we had reported that Aishwarya Rai had returned the cheque she had taken as a signing amount for Heroine. Now the latest we hear is that the actress has sent a legal notice to UTV and Madhur Bhandarkar, warning the producers against leaking her photo-shoot to promote Heroine.
The actress has sent a letter through her lawyers that she will seek damages if the pictures that she has shot for the film earlier, gets leaked out.
“Ash is fed up of the whole thing. She’s been ethical and professional about the matter. But, considering the way things ended on a sour note with Bhandarkar, she does not want him to use any of the stills or scenes that she had already shot at any point in the future,” the source is quoted as saying by a daily.
Added the source, “Ash has already returned her acting fees, so there’s nothing that makes her liable to her director or producer. She is still upset with the way Madhur wrote a huge blog against her which basically called her a liar. She always wanted to come back and complete the movie, but the way things turned out, has left a bad taste in her mouth.”
However, a source from the production house says, “Madhur was not planning to use those stills, but we guess Ash didn’t trust us. The photo-shoots that we have done with her for the promotions are really great pictures. We are sorry that these pictures won’t be revealed ever to the world. Aishwarya is looking just awesome in the pictures. We are putting it in our safety vaults where it won’t come out ever.”

Is Vidya Balan still in love with Shahid Kapoor?
The actress apparently told TV producer Ekta Kapoor not to promote ex-boyfriend Shahid Kapur's Muasam on her TV show, fuelling rumours that she still has a soft spot for him
There have been reports that Vidya Balan has been telling TV producers, including Balaji's Ekta Kapoor, not to promote ex-beau Shahid Kapoor's next release Mausam, in her TV serial, Bade Achche Lagte Hai. Does that mean the pretty Ishqiyan actress hasn't forgotten Shahid despite being in a steady relationship with one of the heads of a production house?
Says a source, "Shahid and Vidya became close during the shooting of Aziz Mirza's Kismet Konnection and shared some close moments together. But it was for a brief period of time and since then both have moved on with their respective partners. Or so one thought. But from her latest move it appears that Vidya has not moved on. There have been stories of her telling her Dirty Pictures producer Ekta Kapoor not to promote Shahid's next film Mausam on Ekta's serial, Bade Achche Lagte Hain. Why would a star of Vidya's calibre and repute do such a thing unless she was still in love with Shahid? One wonders if there's trouble in her relationship with her current beau, whom Vidya has been dating for over a year? It appears as if Vidya is still holding grudges aganst Shahid, while the actor has moved on and only wishes her well."
However a source from Balaji has another version. "Ekta's decision not to promote Mausam on her serial Bade Achche Lagte Hainwas not personal or anything to do with Vidya. Ekta is a professional and was very clear right from the beginning that only her film Dirty Pictures would be promoted first in Balaji's flagship television serials. Promoting upcoming releases through TV serials has always been one of the marketing strategies of Balaji but this time Ekta wants Dirty Picturesto come first (before other's films) on Bade Achche Lagte Hainas it's one of the top-ranking popular serials today. Vidya is a very dignified and balanced girl who is in a happy space today. She is a professional who would never interefere in someone's work. Nor does she need to resort to such gimmicks."
So who then is spreading the rumour?

Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor make up
Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor have finally decided to put past differences aside and try to be friends.
While Preity has gone public with her praises for the Bodyguard actress via a social networking site, Kareena too chose to compliment Preity on her sweet and genuine nature.
Preity tweeted: Just saw BODYGUARD! Salman U n Kareena Rock! Its FAB & the action is AMAZING ! All da best This one is full Paisa Vasool :)
The gesture obviously comes a surprise, since it was Preity who had once at a Diwali party hosted by Akshay Kumar in 2008, snubbed Kareena publicly. In fact, the rivalry started when an unsuspecting Zinta commented on the 'new lot of actresses' in those days - a list that included Kareena.
The rivalry intensified when Preity was chosen for Karan Johar's Kal Ho Na Ho, to play a role that was initially offered to Kareena. A war of words followed between the actresses. In fact, on Karan Johar's chat show, Kareena made it clear that she was not too fond of Preity. Preity on the other hand, said that Kareena only acknowledged her in Karan's presence.
Both actresses seem to have moved on from their warring days. On Sunday night, Preity was a part of Salman Khan's exclusive show of Bodyguard at YRF Studios. On Monday morning, the actress praised both the lead actors Salman and Kareena for their performances in the film. Needless to say, Kareena is rather pleased with this gesture.
When contacted, Kareena said, "I am really flattered with Preity's compliment. She is really sweet and very genuine as a person. She always speaks her mind so I know whatever she wrote was heartfelt.

My Agneepath Is Not A Remake Says Hrithik Roshan
Actor Hrithik Roshan, who plays the main character in Karan Johar, Yash Johar film tribute to his father in 1990's cult film "Agneepath" of the same name, said he does not like remakes, but agreed to meet this project because it has very little resemblance to the original.
This version of the film is conceived and directed by Karan Malhotra. "I was never interested in doing remakes, I am still not interested in doing remakes and I don't think I will ever do a remake. When I was narrated the script, in 10 miniutes he made me forget that it was a remake and made me forget all the symbolic visuals I had in mind and I just reacted as an actor. I am very, very proud to be associated with this film," Hrithik told reporters at the launch of the first teaser of the film here Monday.
"I am just driven by my instincts. Whatever my mind says, my instincts just take over. He just made me forget about all the emotions I had about this film and he took me to a completely different world, with a completely new character," he added The original "Agneepath" directed by Mukul Anand, wasn't commercially successful but gave an iconic character Vijay Deenanath Chauhan that fetched megastar Amitabh Bachchan a National Award for Best Actor. Asked if he had reprised any traits of the original character, Hrithik said: "I didn't have any reference point. I only had what Karan (Malhotra) had written in the script and it was absolutely a new space, which was a good thing, as I didn't want to have a reference point." Hrithik maintains that if he had to compete with Big B, he would have definitely failed. "If the competition had been in my mind then I would have definitely failed. For me it's just another character," said Hrithik. Releasing Jan 12, 2012, the film also features actor Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor and actress Priyanka Chopra in pivotal roles.
